This
year's contest saw another increase in the number of
contestants. The contest attracted 113
contestants as compared to
71 contestants in 2006 and
30 contestants in 2005.
They came from all over Singapore.
Some special features of this year's Contest are:
3 Categories:
Solo Nostalgia (Songs from 50s to 70s), Solo Baru (Songs
from 80s to Present) & Duet
Qualifiers to the Final and Winners of the Contest were decided
upon based on their total aggregate
position given by all 3 judges. Thus, the contestant in the
final with the lowest total aggregate position is the
Winner.
Video clip of each
finalist taped during the prelim rounds was presented before
the contestant did his/her song presentation. This carried
a maximum of 10 marks.
Each finalist had to pick an impromtu question from an
envelop and answer it verbally after his or her song
presentation. This portion carried a maximum of 10 marks
and was taken as the X-factor that Judges were looking
for.
